About Us
MAINE-ENDWELL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Who We Are & Why We Exist
The Maine-Endwell Scholarship Committee was formed in 2014 by alumni representing the first two graduating classes from Maine-Endwell Senior High School, the Classes of 1963 and 1964. Their goal was to provide a significant opportunity to assist M-E students in paying for their higher education. Their long-term goal was to make the Scholarship Program in perpetuity. Since 2014, awards were given to students who either planned to continue their education in academic areas that led to careers in public service OR who chose academic areas that led to a different career choice but who were already certain they would contribute to public service throughout their adult life by giving back to their community as a volunteer, using their particular skill set, or providing financial assistance according to their ability.
Our Goals
In September 2023 it was determined that in order to reach the long-term goal of providing scholarships in perpetuity, the Scholarship Program needed to be expanded by opening up to ALL M-E alumni and to the community as a whole, thus the name Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program was chosen to represent ALL M-E alumni. The main source of funding for all scholarships will be through donations received from all M-E graduates. A solicitation drive will be held twice a year, as well as other possible fundraising events and social activities within the community that are coordinated through the Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program in conjunction with Maine-Endwell High School or the Maine-Endwell Central School District. The Scholarship Program leadership will work with representatives of each graduating class and seek their assistance with the distribution of the semiannual solicitation letter to their classmates. Thus, each year the Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program, composed of at least one representative from every graduation class, will have the names and addresses, e-mails, etc., to use in this fundraising effort. The hope is that ALL M-E graduates will donate at least $10 a year toward the Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program and that some individuals might choose to contribute additional funds to truly make this a scholarship program in perpetuity.
