Background

In 2014, representative 50-year graduates from the M-E Class of 1964, as well as the Class of 1963, deemed it their civic duty to establish the M-E Alumni Scholarship Committee to oversee the Charles R. Miller Public Service Legacy Award as well as other scholarships that may be deemed appropriate by the Scholarship Committee.

It is the goal of the Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program to generate funds in perpetuity by soliciting donations from ALL graduates.  Other interested supporters of M-E students pursuing a higher educational curriculum are also encouraged to donate. The Charles R. Miller Public Service Legacy Award will be funded through this solicitation as will other scholarships as determined by the M-E Alumni Scholarship Program.

Vocational Training and STEAM Scholarship

Currently, two other scholarships are being funded by the Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program; the M-E Alumni Scholarship – Vocational-Trade/Official Skilled Professional Training Certificate Program, and the M-E Alumni STEAM Scholarship.  The M-E Alumni Scholarship – Vocational-Trade/Official Skilled Professional Training Certificate Program will be awarded annually to at least one senior who plans to continue his or her education in what is considered a vocational or trade curriculum, whether that be a 2-year college, trade or vocational school, or participates in an official skilled professional training certificate program.

The M-E Alumni STEAM Scholarship will be awarded to at least one senior who plans to pursue higher education at a 2- or 4-year college/university, majoring in the Sciences, Technology (computer sciences), Engineering, Arts, Math or related fields (such as accounting or economics)—otherwise known as STEAM.

Based on the number of applications generated and the total dollar amount of donations received, students will have the opportunity to apply for scholarship assistance to ensure access to instruction and training to transform their lives.  It is the hope that the Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program will help current and future graduates think of giving back to their community as they move through their lives, whether that is volunteering their specific skill set or financially supporting causes within their community based on their ability to pay it forward.

Applications

APPLICATIONS for the below-listed scholarships are being accepted from February 15th through May 1st.  Students should determine which application category best suits them based on their qualifications and higher educational goals and make sure they address ALL of the requirements mentioned in the applicable application(s).  Applications are to be submitted to the M-E High School Guidance Office no later than May 1st. Recipients will be notified during the Awards Ceremony held at Maine-Endwell High School in June.  All applications become the property of the Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program. The Scholarship Selection Subcommittee of the Maine-Endwell Alumni Scholarship Program is charged with the selection of the recipients of the Charles R. Miller Public Service Legacy Award, the M-E Alumni/ Vocational-Trade Scholarship, and the Maine-Endwell STEAM Scholarship (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (or related fields such as accounting and economics).
